CODE OF CONDUCT FOR AVVC MEMBERS RELATING TO COVID-19

To ensure the safety of all players, coaches, volunteers, venue staff and the wider community during the COVID-19 pandemic, all participants need to agree to the following code of conduct. Please read this carefully before registering for any club activity. By registering you agree to this code of conduct. This code of conduct remains in place until further notice.

1. PRE-ATTENDANCE SYMPTOM CHECK

  • All participants must undergo a self-assessment for any COVID-19 symptoms. No-one should leave home to participate in any club activity if they, or someone they live with, has symptoms of COVID-19 currently recognised as any of the following:
    – A high temperature
    – A new, continuous cough
    – A loss of, or change to, their sense of smell or taste
  • Should an individual have demonstrated any such symptoms, or if an individual lives with someone who has been tested positive for COVID-19, they must follow NHS and PHE guidance on self-isolation and must not attend training sessions or matches.
  • We would encourage participants to have a lateral flow test within 72h prior to the session where possible.

2. RISK AWARENESS

  • All participants must be aware of the risk of contracting COVID-19 whilst taking part in the club activity. The measures we take aim to reduce this risk.
  • All participants must read and agree to the club’s COVID risk assessment.
  • Training sessions and matches will be limited to 32 participants on a first come first served basis and limited to 16 on court at any one time.

3. TRACK AND TRACE

  • All participants must supply the club with their contact details before joining any activity. This is to allow NHS Test and Trace to contact all participants if a player becomes ill with COVID-19. These details must be kept for 21 days.
  • Where the venue requires participants to sign in, this must be carried out, in addition to the club retaining details for track and trace.
  • The COVID officer or coach must keep a log of those that attend each session for a period of at least 21 days (via registration book).

4. TRAVEL TO AND FROM CLUB ACTIVITIES

  • Participants should follow UK Government guidance on best practice for travel, including minimising the use of public transport and limiting car sharing
  • Parents picking up children must adhere to social distancing.

5. ARRIVAL AT VENUES FOR CLUB ACTIVITIES

  • Participants must not congregate at the entrance/exit of venues.
  • Participants are advised to arrive changed and ready to warm up. Changing rooms and showers are not available.

  • Participants should avoid contact during greetings.

6. USE OF EQUIPMENT

  • Participants agree to discard any rubbish (including tissues, food waste and empty water bottles) in bins provided at the venue if available or take it home with them.
  • Participants agree to check they take all their personal belongings home with them. To minimise the risk of infection, the club and venue cannot keep hold of lost property and it may be discarded if the owner cannot be easily identified.
  • Equipment sharing should be kept to a minimum. Players should not touch equipment they are not using as part of their activity.
  • All volleyballs will be cleaned in line with the manufacturers’ instructions before and after training. Balls will be wiped every 30 minutes during training sessions and matches.

7. DURING ACTIVITY

  • All participants must sanitise their hands prior to the start of the activity and at least every 30 minutes or after each set, whichever occurs sooner.
  • Participants must not shake or slap hands with other participants. There must be no celebratory touches and shouting should be kept to a minimum.
  • Participants should avoid touching their face where possible.
  • Participants should keep social distancing where possible during and after the activity, including during team talks and water breaks.
  • No exercises or drills will involve physical contact between one or more participants (including coaches). Training and warm up activities will be designed as far as possible in order to limit face to face to face proximity of less than one metre for more than three seconds at any time.
  • Participants MUST refrain from spitting or rinsing out their mouths.
  • Participants should cover their mouth and nose with a tissue or their sleeve (not their hands) when they cough or sneeze and should put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash hands afterwards.
  • Participants are permitted to wear a face covering during training but this is optional.
  • Only handheld whistles will be used.
  • No event or activity should involve a group of participants (not including coaches, officials, or volunteers) that exceed 16 people per court. Where mixing takes place, no more than 32 people can take part in the session. It must take place outdoors.

8. ADHERENCE TO MEASURES

  • All participants agree to adhere to all of the measures listed in this document.
  • During the activity, the club COVID-19 Officer or coaches will ensure that all mitigating measures and guidance is followed and may introduce additional measures if they feel it is necessary for the safety of the group. Players agree to follow the instructions given to them by the COVID-19 Officer or coaches. The COVID officer will be a member of the committee. Where one of the committee members is not present, a COVID officer must be appointed.
  • Aylesbury Vale Volleyball Club reserves the right to amend the code of conduct to comply with a change of guidance from the government, venue provider or Volleyball England.
  • Failure to comply with these risk mitigating measures may result in final warnings. In repeated or severe cases of misconduct, removal from the group or activity will be considered by the committee. No refunds will be offered for those who are removed due to non-compliance.
  • For participants under 18, parents are responsible to make their child aware of all the measures and reinforce the need to adhere to them.
